Conservatories Crosby

Coastal-rated conservatories for Crosby, Blundellsands and the Sefton seafront

Crosby is a coastal town. That sounds obvious, but it changes how a conservatory should be built. The wind coming in off Burbo Bank loads the rear elevation of a Blundellsands property differently to anything inland. Salt drift attacks cheaper aluminium and uPVC frames. Glass spec on a seafront-facing extension is a different calculation to one in Maghull or Aintree. Most companies quoting in Crosby don't factor any of this in.

Pure Conservatories is based on the Wirral - we know about coastal-rated frames and glazing because we install on coastal property every week. New builds, replacements, Leka solid roof upgrades. No four-hour pitch. No mystery pricing. If your existing roof is the only problem, that's all we'll quote for.

Conservatories & Orangeries That You Can Use
All Year Round

Cool in Summer

10 Year Guarantee

Whether you're building new on a Blundellsands villa, replacing a tired conservatory in Great Crosby, or fitting a tiled roof to a Waterloo semi, the spec starts with the location. A seafront-facing job in L23 needs different glass and frame ratings to a sheltered job in L22.

Most people in Crosby have looked into conservatories before and stalled. We work at your pace - no calls a week later asking why you haven't booked.

Solid Roof Conservatories in Crosby

Coastal weather is hard on conservatory roofs. Salt-laden wind pits the seals on older polycarbonate. South-westerly storms drum on glass roofs in a way that wouldn't happen ten miles inland. South-facing seafront properties bake in summer. North-facing rear gardens freeze in winter. The conservatory ends up unused for most of the year.

The Leka warm roof solves all of that. Lightweight insulated tiled structure, drops on the existing frames and base. Externally it ties into your existing roof tiles - on the Edwardian villas off Mariners Road or the inter-war semis in Waterloo, that matters. Internally it's plastered and painted so the room feels like an actual room.

Coastal-rated tile fixings throughout. The roof is built for Burbo Bank wind, not for the brochure. Three to five days from start to finish in most Crosby homes.

Types of conservatory roof

Victorian Conservatories

The Victorian style suits properties that already carry architectural detail - bay fronts, sash windows, the kind of decorative trim you see across the older Crosby villas.

This is the format we recommend on the larger Edwardian and inter-war detached houses around Blundellsands, Brighton-le-Sands and the streets running back from the seafront. The multi-faceted bay front extends the existing character rather than fighting it.

Edwardian Conservatories

Rectangular footprint with straight walls. The Edwardian style gives you the most usable floor space per square metre of any conservatory shape.

It's the right call for the streets of railway-commuter Edwardian terraces that make up the heart of Crosby and Waterloo - properties built between 1900 and 1920 when the line into Liverpool brought rapid expansion. The square Edwardian shape fits a rectangular Edwardian rear garden in a way that the Victorian splay doesn't.

Modern and Lean-To Conservatories

Lean-to and modern conservatories tuck under the existing roofline. Low profile, single-slope roof, no eaves intrusion on first-floor windows. The lowest cost format we offer.

The call here is the bungalow stock around Thornton and Little Crosby, and the older mid-terraces in Seaforth and Waterloo where rear-roof clearance is tight. On a 1930s bungalow, a Victorian pitched conservatory would overhang the roofline by metres. A lean-to does the job properly.

What suits your house depends on the era, the rear elevation, the garden, and the budget. We walk it through on the site visit. Honest assessment, including what won't work and why - cheaper to hear that on a Saturday than after the deposit has been paid.

What We Offer

Our Services

Three core services. Every quote includes coastal-rated frame and glazing spec as standard - that's the spec we install in L23. Building Regs handled. Sefton Council building control notifications handled for you on solid roof retrofits.

Old polycarbonate or glass roof off, Leka tiled system on with coastal-rated tile fixings. Three to five days on most Crosby properties. Most installations are £8,000-£14,000. Existing structure size, the glass spec, and whether the property is seafront-facing all move the price.
New conservatories and orangeries designed around your property and the room's intended use. Coastal-grade frame systems and glazing as the default - inland-spec frames don't last in L22/L23. Most full builds in Crosby run £15,000-£28,000 depending on the spec a coastal property requires.
Existing conservatory in decent shape but tired? Internal refit: insulation, plastered ceilings, downlights, electrics, flooring, heating, replacement roof windows, gutters and trims. Building Regulations handled with Sefton Council on your behalf.
How We Do It

Our Process

New build conservatories in Crosby take seven to ten days plus a finishing day. Roof upgrades three to five days. We weather-seal at the end of every shift - on an exposed Mariners Road property, that's not optional.

Initial Consultation:

Site visit, structural look, conversation about how you want to use the room. No four-hour pitch. No follow-up from a sales manager pushing for a yes. We tell you honestly if your existing conservatory only needs a new roof - we don't churn rebuilds out of legitimate roof jobs.

Design:

A drawing or visual showing exactly what we're proposing - the style, the glazing spec, the position of doors and openings. Easier for couples to make a joint decision when both people can actually see the proposal.

Quote and Approval:

Written quote, line by line - frame, roof system, glass, extras. The quoted figure is what you pay. No phone call later from a manager offering to drop it if you sign now.

Installation:

Our installer team runs everything: groundworks, frames, roof, glass, finishing. Site cleaned daily. Deep clean at the end - the room is handed back ready to furnish, not ready to mop.

Orangeries Crosby

For the larger Edwardian villas and inter-war detached houses in Blundellsands and Brighton-le-Sands, an orangery often suits the property better than a conservatory. Brick or rendered corner pillars to match the existing house. Large glazed panels for daylight. A flat-with-lantern or tiled roof.

Thermal performance is much closer to a proper brick extension - which on a coastal property matters significantly in January. We design and build orangeries across Crosby, Blundellsands, Formby and the wider Sefton coast.

Conservatory Roof Upgrade in Crosby

If you have a polycarbonate or glass roof that's done its time but the rest of the conservatory is sound, the roof is the only job. Strip it back, fit a Leka warm roof with coastal-rated tile fixings, three to five days, and you have a room back.

Salt-driven wind is brutal on poorly-fixed tiles. Standard inland fixing schedules are not what you want on a Mariners Road or Blundellsands Road property. We specify the fixings for the actual exposure.

If your existing frames and base are sound, that's the whole job. We won't quote a rebuild for a roof problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a different conservatory spec because Crosby is coastal?

For seafront-facing properties yes. Frame systems, glazing units and roof fixings all need to be rated for higher wind loads and salt exposure. Inland-spec installations don't last in L23 - we've replaced enough of them over the years to know. We specify coastal-rated kit as the default for any property west of the railway line.

What if my Crosby conservatory only needs a new roof?

Common job. The polycarbonate roofs across Great Crosby and Waterloo have aged badly in coastal conditions. If the frames and base are sound, a Leka warm roof is the whole answer at £8,000-£14,000. We say so on the visit - we don't push rebuilds when the existing structure has decades left in it.

Do you do hard sells or pressure tactics?

No. The visit is to look at the job and quote. There's no phone call from a sales manager later trying to drop the price. No "limited time" offers. The number we quote is what goes on the invoice.

Do I need planning permission for a conservatory in Crosby?

Most don't. The majority of conservatories in L22 and L23 sit within permitted development under Sefton Council rules. Conservation areas - parts of Blundellsands fall inside one - are different. We check the property's status at the site visit before quoting. Solid roof retrofits, we handle the building control notification.

How long does the work take?

Roof upgrades three to five days. New conservatory builds seven to ten days plus a cleaning and finishing day. We weather-seal the structure every evening, which on a coastal property is something we don't skip.
