Conservatories Crewe

Honest second-opinion conservatory quotes for Crewe and South Cheshire

Crewe has its own local conservatory trade and that's a good thing - there are genuinely good local installers in CW1 and CW2. The issue is when you've already had a quote and you want a second opinion from someone who isn't friends with the first installer's brother-in-law. That's where we come in.

Pure Conservatories is a Wirral-based installer. We travel into Crewe regularly for new builds, replacements, and Leka solid roof upgrades. We have no local trade alliances and nothing to lose by telling you the unvarnished truth about your existing conservatory. No four-hour pitch. No mystery pricing. If your existing roof is the only problem, that's the only job we'll quote.

Crewe is a railway-engineering town with serious industrial heritage - Crewe Works built locomotives from 1840 to the 1990s and is still a working rail site. The housing reflects that history: Victorian railway terraces in the West End and Coppenhall, 1950s and 60s post-war estates, and the modern detached and semi-detached belt around Wistaston, Shavington and Haslington. Each one is a different conservatory job.

If you've been comparing quotes, we'll give you an honest one and you can put it next to whatever else you have.

Solid Roof Conservatories in Crewe

South Cheshire winters bite harder than the Wirral coast. Continental air from the east brings real frost periods that estuary-side Cheshire doesn't see. If your conservatory has a polycarbonate roof from the 1990s or 2000s - and many of the Wistaston, Shavington and Haslington conservatories from that era do - the thermal performance was marginal when it was new and is unusable now.

The Leka warm roof replaces it. Lightweight insulated tiled structure that drops onto the existing frames and base. Outside it ties into the existing roof tiles - on a 1990s Wistaston detached or a Haslington semi, the visual match matters. Inside it's plastered and painted to the same standard as the room it connects to.

After the upgrade, the room works through a CW1 winter. Frost doesn't sit on the inside of the glazing. The heating bill doesn't double.

Most Crewe roof upgrades complete in three to five days.

Types of conservatory roof

Victorian Conservatories

The Victorian conservatory style suits properties with existing period detail - bay fronts, original brickwork, ornate trim.

In Crewe that points to the railway-worker terraces around the West End, Edleston Road and Coppenhall - properties built between 1880 and 1910 as Crewe Works expanded and the population doubled. The decorative multi-faceted bay front carries that heritage forward into the rear extension.

Edwardian Conservatories

Rectangular footprint, straight walls. The Edwardian conservatory gives you the most useable floor space per pound of any style and works well with modern furniture layouts.

This is the format we specify most often for the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s detached and semi-detached homes across Wistaston, Shavington, Haslington and Willaston. The clean rectangle matches the rear elevation of those properties without the Victorian splay that would clash with their architectural simplicity.

Modern and Lean-To Conservatories

Lean-to and modern conservatories sit close to the existing roofline. Single-slope roof, low profile, the lowest cost format of the three.

This is the right call for the older bungalow stock around Willaston, Wistaston Green and the rural fringe villages around Crewe, and for the smaller Victorian terraces in the West End where a steeply-pitched roof would block first-floor light. The clean lean-to profile keeps the rear elevation in proportion.

What's right depends on the property, your intended use, and the budget. We walk through it on the site visit, give you our honest take on what will and won't work for your specific house, and quote that day or the day after. There's no special pricing tied to signing on the spot.

What Our Customers Say

Client Testimonials

Just a small selection of the nice things our customers have to say about us

What We Offer

Our Services

Three things we do. We're not a local CW1 outfit - we travel in from the Wirral to do them properly. Cheshire East Council Building Regulations notification handled by us on relevant jobs. Quote stays the quote.

Existing polycarbonate or glass roof stripped off, Leka warm roof installed in its place. Three to five days for most Crewe jobs. Most installations land £8,000-£14,000. Size of the existing conservatory, glazing specification, and the access route are the three variables that move the price.
Bespoke new conservatories and orangeries designed around your house and how you actually want to use the room. Leka roof specified from day one in nearly all South Cheshire cases - winters here demand it. Most full builds in Crewe come in £15,000-£25,000.
Existing conservatory looks tired but the structure is sound? Strip-back and refit: insulation, plastered ceilings, downlights, electrics, flooring, heating, roof windows, gutters, trims. Cheshire East Council Building Regulations notification handled by us.
How We Do It

Our Process

A new conservatory in Crewe takes seven to ten days plus a finishing day. Roof-only upgrades complete in three to five days. The opening is weather-sealed at the end of every working day, so the property doesn't sit exposed if South Cheshire weather goes against us mid-week.

Initial Consultation:

Property visit, structural assessment, conversation about how you want to use the room. No four-hour seated pitch. No phone call from head office to drop the price. If your existing conservatory only needs the roof replacing, that's what we'll tell you and that's what we'll quote for.

Design:

A drawing or visual showing the proposed style, glazing, and door/window positions. Particularly useful if you've already had quotes from local installers and want to compare like-for-like before deciding.

Quote and Approval:

A written quote broken out line by line - frame, roof system, glass spec, extras. What we quote is what you pay. No phone call afterwards to renegotiate. Put our number next to anyone else's quote and compare what's actually being built.

Installation:

Our installation team handles the full job - groundworks, frames, roof, glazing, finishing. Daily site clean-down. Proper deep clean on completion so the room is ready to furnish on handover, not after another weekend of mopping.

Orangeries Crewe

For the larger detached and executive homes across Wistaston, Haslington and the affluent ring of South Cheshire, an orangery is often a better visual fit than a traditional conservatory. Brick or rendered corner pillars tie into the existing house. Glazed panels between for daylight. Flat-with-lantern or tiled roof on top.

The result is closer to a proper brick extension in thermal performance at a fraction of the cost. We design and install bespoke orangeries across Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and the wider South Cheshire area.

Conservatory Roof Upgrade in Crewe

If your conservatory is structurally fine but the roof is the reason the room doesn't get used, the roof is the only job. Polycarbonate or glass off, Leka warm roof on, three to five days, and the conservatory becomes a year-round room.

The frames don't move. The base doesn't move. The cost is a long way short of a full rebuild.

If your local installer has quoted you a full rebuild and you wanted a second opinion - this is exactly the kind of job we get called in for. We'll tell you honestly whether a roof-only solution will work or whether the structure genuinely needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a Wirral installer rather than a local Crewe firm?

Genuine answer: if you already have a quote from a CW1 installer and want a second opinion, we have no local relationships to protect. We're not going to soften the assessment to avoid stepping on toes. Plus, we install Leka warm roofs every week across Merseyside and Cheshire - we know the system inside out. Put our quote next to your local one and compare.

What if my Crewe conservatory only needs a new roof?

If the frames and base are sound, that's the whole job. Many polycarbonate roofs across the Wistaston, Shavington and Haslington estates from the 1990s and 2000s are now at end of life. Leka warm roof retrofit is £8,000-£14,000 depending on size and access. We say so honestly on the site visit.

Do you do hard sells or pressure tactics?

No. Site visit, conversation, written quote. No phone follow-up trying to drop the price. No "manager-on-the-phone" routine. The quote stays the quote. If you need more time to think, take it - we won't chase.

Do I need planning permission for a conservatory in Crewe?

In most cases no. Most conservatories in CW1 and CW2 fall under permitted development per Cheshire East Council guidance, subject to size and positioning rules. Conservation areas and listed properties are exceptions - the older West End streets have some. We check before quoting. Solid roof retrofits get the building control notification handled by us.

Does South Cheshire weather affect conservatory specification?

Yes more than you'd think. Continental winters in CW1 are noticeably colder than the equivalent Wirral postcode - real frost periods, longer cold snaps. Thermal performance and glazing spec need to reflect that. The Leka warm roof system is what makes a conservatory genuinely useable through a Crewe January.
